Center Austria and the Department of Anthropology (professor of archeology Rya Gray) at the University of New Orleans (UNO) are involved in a joint project with the Department of Archeology of the partner university in Innsbruck under the leadership of Professor Harald Stadler, who served as a guest professor at UNO in the fall of 2019.

The Center at the Krewe of Krampus
According to the Krewe, In keeping with a true European Krampuslauf, known as a Krampus run, the Krewe will maintain many of the traditions found in Alpine villages. Our evening parade or Krampuslauf will be lead by Krampus, complete with switches, and Saint Nicholas accompanied by a host of other creatures and folklore legends like Frau Perchta (The Frau), Yule Cat, Knecht Ruprecht, Belsnickel, and others (Y’ules).
Alps-Adriatic Alliance Group Visits the Center
Thomas Pseiner, the Secretary-General of the Alps-Adriatic Alliance visited Center Austria on December 9, 2019.
The Alps-Adriatic Alliance was founded on November 22nd 2013 in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee. It represents a dynamic, flexible and low-threshold network-structure for project-oriented cooperation in the Alps-Adriatic area.
New Orleans Mayor Honors Innsbruck Student
New Orleans Mayor Latoya Cantrell honors University of Innsbruck student Valerie Wittig in a ceremony welcoming and celebrating international scholars and students to New Orleans. Ms. Wittig will graduate this December with an MBA from UNO's College of Business Administration.
