Robert Misik is a freelance writer and journalist in Vienna who regularly contributes to leading Austrian, German and Swiss newspapers and weeklies, including the Neue Züricher Zeitung, Die Zeit, Berliner Zeitung, and Profil; he also does a weekly Videoblog at the Website of the Austrian Newspaper Der Standard and his private Blog www.misik.at.

Congratulations Dr. Bischof

Dr. Guenter Bischof, Director of Center Austria, received the “Austrian Award for Science and the Arts, 1st class” on Oct. 25 in Vienna from Dr. Karl-Heinz Toechterle, Austrian Minister of Science, in a ceremony at the Ministry of Science in Vienna.  The award ceremony was staged during the Annual Meeting of Austrian Centers in Vienna. Professor Arnold Suppan, Vice President of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, delivered the “laudation” for Bischof.

FIRST ANNUAL RADOMIR LUZA PRIZE AWARDED

The American Friends of the Documentation Center of Austrian Resistance and the Center Austria of the University of New Orleans are pleased to announce the award of first annual Radomir Luza Prize for an outstanding work in the field of Austrian and/or Czechoslovak World War II studies, particularly in the fields of diplomatic history, resistance and war studies. This prize carries a cash award of $500.00 and seeks to encourage research in the above mentioned fields focusing on the time period between the Anschluss and the end of the Second World War.
