Robert Misik is a freelance writer and journalist in Vienna who regularly contributes to leading Austrian, German and Swiss newspapers and weeklies, including the Neue Züricher Zeitung, Die Zeit, Berliner Zeitung, and Profil; he also does a weekly Videoblog at the Website of the Austrian Newspaper Der Standard and his private Blog www.misik.at.

He was a correspondent for Profil magazine, covering the end of the Cold War in Eastern Europe, and a senior editor of the news magazine Format. He is the author of ten books, among them Mythos Weltmarkt (1998),Politik der Paranoia. Gegen die neuen Konservativen (2009) and Halbe Freiheit. Warum Freiheit und Gleichzeit zusammen gehören (2012). He won two Bruno Kreisky Awards for the Political Book (1999, 2000), and the Austrian State Award for Cultural Writing (2008).
