Michael S. Maier is a native of Austria and holds a M.A. degree in History and Journalism from the University of Vienna. He has worked for “The General Settlement Fund for Victims of National Socialism” in Austria and is a doctoral candidate at the Department of Economic and Social History, University of Vienna.

In his doctoral thesis he researches the impact of WWII on the Austrian postwar society with a focus on the repatriation and integration of war returnees and homecoming prisoners of war.
