Marc Landry has taught history and served as the Associate Director of Center Austria at the University of New Orleans since 2017. He has studied at the College of William & Mary, the universities of Innsbruck and Munich, and Georgetown University—where he received an MA in the School of Foreign Service and a PhD in environmental history. After studying abroad in Innsbruck, Austria through the University of New Orleans, he became fascinated with exploring the history of the Alps. He has lived and researched in the Alps for almost a decade. His research on the transformation of the Alpine landscape in the modern period has appeared in the journal Environmental History, and he is currently working on a book manuscript on this topic. In 2018 he co-edited a volume of the journal Contemporary Austrian Studies with Patrick Kupper on the environmental history of Austria. He looks forward to the summers when he can take refuge from the New Orleans heat with his in-laws in the northern Italian Alps.
