Center Austria conducted a Workshop on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the European Recovery Program starting in the spring of 1948 "The Marshall Plan at 70." The occasion was the presence of Professor David Ellwood in New Orleans. Ellwood is a scholar of the Marshall Plan in Europe and especially in Italy par excellence. He has served as an adjunct professor at John Hopkins University's Bologna Center for forty years and is the author of the highly acclaimed The Shock of Europe: Europe and the Challenge of the Century (2012), a volume in the magisterial "History of Europe" series by Oxford University Press. Center Austria director Guenter Bischof, who recently published with Hans Petschar, The Marshall Plan since 1947: Saving Europe, Rebuilding Austria (2016), complimented Ellwood.
