Franz Cede holds a law degree from the University of Innsbruck; he also studied in Paris, Bologna and Washington. He joined the Austrian Foreign Ministry in 1972. In the course of his diplomatic career, Cede first was posted at the Austrian embassies in Paris and Rabat. He then served as ambassador to Zaire (Congo), as Consul General in Los Angeles, and as Austria’s ambassador to Russia and to Belgium and NATO. Cede was Director of the International Law Office from 1993 to 1999 in the Austrian Foreign Ministry in Vienna.
Christian Prosl studied law and Romance languages at the University of Vienna and did his post-graduate studies at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. He first worked with the UN Development Program (UNDP) in Burkina Faso and Rwanda and then joined the Austrian Foreign Ministry. He was first posted to the embassies in London and Washington. He returned to Vienna to head the Secretary General’s Coordination Office in the Foreign Ministry. He served as Consul General in Los Angeles. He served as Austrian ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany and to the United States
