Belachew Gebrewold was born in Ethiopia and is now a native of Austria. He studied theology and political science at the Universities of Innsbruck and Hamburg and is a specialist in peace studies & conflict resolution, African politics, and European – African relations. He has taught international relations at the Universities of Innsbruck, Munich, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Salzburg and in the spring of 2007 was a visiting professor at the Notre Dame University. Next to his native Ethiopia Kambaata and Amharic, he is conversant in 6 European languages. He is author of The Impact of the Socio-Cultural Structures of the Kambata, Ethiopia on Their Economic Development (Vienna 2002) and Anatomy of Violence: Understanding the Systems of Conflict and Violence in Africa [forthcoming Aldershot/UK 2009] and many essays and articles.

Dr. Gebrewold will also be lecturing in Dr. Mobkiber's African History class and on "The Darfur Conflict" in Marion Wieser's International Law class.
